Rose Valley returned Rs 10,500 crore to investors: ED – Times of India

KOLKATA: Rose Valley, which is under the concurrent probe of the CBI and ED for allegedly defrauding investors, has already returned around Rs 10,500 crore out of Rs 17,520 crore raised from them, an official said on Monday. He said the ED had also attached properties worth Rs 4,500 crore and filed two prosecution complaints with the designated Prevention of Money-Laundering Act (PMLA) court. "Out of Rs 17,520 crore raised by Rose Valley, which has been in in operation since 1999, around Rs 10,500 crore has already been returned to investors," the ED official said. The probe into the Rose Valley scam started six years ago. Unlock 5: Education ministry issues guidelines for school reopening amid Covid-19 – Times of India

NEW DELHI: The Union ministry of education on Monday issued guidelines for reopening of schools after October 15 under the fifth phase of Unlock. The guidelines have been issued in consultation with the Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL). As per the guidelines, schools and coaching institutions can open in a graded manner after October 15. However, the final decision will rest with the respective states and Union Territories (UTs). The ministry said that States/UTs may adopt or adapt the standard operating procedure (SoP) as per local context and requirements. According to DoSEL, the schools which are allowed to open must follow the guideline prepared by States/UTs education departments based on SOP issued by the DoSEL. NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court has asked the Ministry of Home Affairs to consider the representation of a parents body seeking directions to allow final year students of various universities to stay in hostels or paying guest accommodations, closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, during the exams. Justice Jayant Nath said let the authorities treat the writ petition as a representation and deal with the same as per law. “Appropriate orders may be passed and communicated to the petitioner (parents body),” the high court said.
